What Is an Online Driver Improvement Clinic?

The Online Driver Improvement Course is an eight-hour course conducted via the Internet. It helps educate drivers who have developed risky driving practices.

Curriculum Requirements

All online driver improvement clinics must utilize a curriculum approved by DMV.

You may use a curriculum provided by a vendor on the list of DMV-approved Computer-Based Driver Improvement Curriculum Vendors. If you wish to develop your own curriculum, it must be reviewed and approved by DMV prior to use.

Applying to be an Online Driver Improvement Clinic Provider

To apply, you must submit:

  • An Online Driver Improvement Clinic License Application and Agreement (DIC 551)
  • A copy of the Curriculum Vendor Agreement provided by a vendor on the listing of DMV-Approved Computer-Based Driver Improvement Curriculum Vendors
  • An application fee of $150
  • A completed application for Extranet Transaction Access (US 532 E/ER)
  • A $25 Application fee for using the Extranet
  • A $65 RSA SecurID Token (FOB) fee

Note: Licenses must be renewed every two years.

Payment can be made:

  • By check or charge by mail, or by faxing in the DTS 101.
  • Electronically through the online “Payment Portal”. Once licensing application documents are received and processing is completed, applicants will receive an email explaining how to activate the account.

The Payment Portal offers a safe and convenient way to make online payments for licensing and other fees. Select Log In for more information:

  • A $25 Application fee for using the Extranet
  • A $65 RSA SecurID Token (FOB) fee
