Vehicles or trailers made by a manufacturer are not eligible to get a VIN plate from a local DMV customer service center. The processes below are for homemade trailers only.
Please submit the following at your local customer service center.
VIN Verification
If the VIN is incorrect on the title, you will need to submit:
- VSA 22 Application (the correct VIN needs to be listed on the application, not the VIN currently on the title.
- the original title
- VSA 17A application, if the title is not already in your name
- Check or money order for the fees
- Sales Tax (only if the title is not in your name)
- Title fee
- $125 Examination Fee
For a VIN Install
If your VIN and title match but there is no VIN plate on the vehicle, you will need to submit:
- VSA 22 Application
- the original title
- VSA 17A application, if the title is not already in your name
- Check or money order for the fees
- Sales Tax (only if the title is not in your name)
- Title fee
- $125 Examination Fee
- $5 VIN Plate Fee
