Fuels Tax Rates
In accordance with Va. Code § 58.1-2217, the DMV is required to levy an excise tax on motor fuels. In addition to the tax, the code requires a storage tank fee to be imposed on motor fuels sold and delivered or used in the Commonwealth.

Alternative Fuels Conversion
All Alternative Fuels are required to be converted to the Gasoline Gallon Equivalent (GGE) before reporting. A list of alternative fuels and their conversion formulas, along with a conversion tool, is available on Converting Alternative Fuels to GGE.
