RICHMOND – The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Richmond International Airport (RIC) are urging travelers to beat the rush and get their REAL ID ahead of the May 7, 2025 enforcement deadline at America’s airports. Next week DMV, TSA and RIC are coming together to host a news conference sharing information and answering questions as we count down to the REAL ID deadline. DMV Commissioner Gerald Lackey, TSA's Federal Security Director for Richmond International Chuck Burke and Richmond International’s CEO Perry Miller will be available for interviews after the presentations have concluded.
WHAT: REAL ID One Year Countdown Press Conference
WHEN: Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 9 a.m.
WHERE: Richmond International Airport, South Conference Room
WHY: Beginning May 7, 2025, Virginians who want to board a domestic flight will need to have a REAL ID compliant driver’s license or ID or another federally accepted form of identification such as a U.S. passport, passport card or military ID. REAL ID regulations also apply to military bases and secure federal facilities; some military bases are already requiring REAL ID or another federally accepted ID for entry.
